It has been a busy trip so far, so day 11 was a more restful day in Kyoto.
I wrote several of my previous blog posts while hanging out in the room at my AirBnb. I picked up some lunch at a grocery store and finished reading Ready Player One.

Then I headed over to a really great coffee shop called Ogawa, which is just a few blocks down the road from where I am staying. They have really great coffee, and some delicious cakes too. I got the fig cake, which was…figtastic?

It was another beautiful day in Kyoto, so I got out for a little walk. I headed south of Kyoto station to the Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine, which is famous for its long path through a series of gates that are placed very close together. From my reading on wikipedia, I learned that each of these gates has been donated by a Japanese business. Inari is the god of rice.

I finished up the enjoyable walk and caught the train back north to meet up with Nate and Chinedu for some conveyer sushi. We tried a lot of different things… fatty tuna, blue fin tuna, eel, and a whole bunch of other fishes I can no longer remember. Pretty good sushi and enjoyable experience with the conveyers.

It is getting dark around 5pm in Japan, so by the time I finished it was

Nate and I split some stuff so we could try more. Chinedu didn’t eat, but he came the night before and managed to put down TWENTY plates by himself. Impressive.
That’s it for today.
