Peak #30 – Woodall Mountain, MS

I ended my trip on Sunday with a quick visit to Woodall Mountain, the highest point in Mississippi.

There were no trails to hike so I drove to the top to take a few pictures.

I wasn’t there for more than a few seconds before an older couple from Tennessee drove up. I chatted with them for a few minutes about the beautiful day (it was beautiful) and about the different state high points I had visited. The lady offered to take a picture, which turned out perfect.

I thought about editing it but decided it was hilarious. When I looked at it, I told the lady “oh, that’s just perfect. Thank you so much”. This high point, while not exciting, at least has a good story of some nice people that I experienced it with.

I spent the night before at a hotel in Memphis and had to return back to fly home to Atlanta. I got an early start in the morning so I had a few hours to kill before I needed to get to the airport.

I decided to go by Shelby Farms in Memphis and do some interval sprints. Intervals are good for you: you run 100% for 30 seconds, then walk/jog for 90 seconds. And then repeat 7 more times for a total of 8 sets. It was exhausting but a good way to spend some time in the afternoon.

After that, it was back to the Memphis airport and home. I was lucky to get upgraded to first class for the first time ever, so my 50 minute flight was pretty comfortable.

I had been gone a solid week, so it was good to be back. Hello, Atlanta!
